Machu Picchu Train Peru 🇵🇪
■ MACHU PICCHU, PERU: Having landed in Cusco two weeks ago and being in complete awe over the history and particularly the architectural ruins scattered around the city, I quickly realized I did not want a repeat of my visit to Sri Lanka's Sigiriya.
Long story short, I went there without knowing much of the background of the empire that created the now famous world heritage site and thus wasn't able to appreciate it to the extent that I could've.
I therefore decided to tour other parts of Peru first (Arequippa, Huacachina, Paracas) whilst I also got down to studying the Inca Empire and the Spanish colonial adventure that proved to be its undoing, before eventually returning to Cusco for a visit to Machu Picchu and the Sacred Valley.
I did so not only to be able to narrate properly for you guys as I go to film these sites but also because nothing's more annoying than knowing you didn't get the most out of your visit to what may prove to be the only time in your life you'll get to visit a site.
So without further ado, here's the train journey from Cusco to South America's most famous tourist attraction, Machu Picchu. The company I opted for is Perurail, one of two companies that operate this route through these incredible valleys. The other being Incarail.
So did the train journey live up to the expectations? And what was the food like? And what about my hotel in Machu Picchu?
