Play was resumed after a slight delay as security escorted the individual away, and it soon emerged that it was Russian YouTuber Vitaly Zdorovetskiy with the words "Vitaly the GOAT" written across his chest.
Argentina were leading 2-0 at the time thanks to goals from Nahuel Molina and Lionel Messi, but Dutch substitute Wout Weghorst grabbed a goal back shortly after the interruption before netting an equaliser in the 90+11th minute to force extra-time at the Lusail Stadium. After neither side could find a winner, it went to penalties - with Argentina winning the shootout 4-3.
Vitaly, 30, has a track record of pitch invading. He pulled the same stunt at the 2014 World Cup final in Brazil, that time having "natural born prankster" emblazoned on his body.
And in 2019 his then-girlfriend Kinsey Wolanski ran onto the pitch during the Champions League final between Liverpool and Tottenham while wearing a black one-piece bikini advertising his 'Vitaly Uncensored' channel.
