North Korean leader Kim Jong-un has appeared in a state TV documentary that featured him admiring a sunset and galloping through a forest on a white horse, an animal considered a symbol of his grandfather Kim Il-sung, the country’s founder. The new film titled The Great Year of Victory, 2021 aired during the week of February 1, 2022. The programme that lasts for over 100 minutes praises Kim’s “accomplishments” over the previous year including campaigns to fight Covid-19, construction projects and weapons development. North Korean state television has a long tradition of making documentaries praising the country’s leaders.
