■ BA VI, VIETNAM: In the 19th century Vietnam became a part of France's colonial empire. This legacy can be seen in the architecture in a number of French quarters across Vietnam's major cities.

That this legacy extended to more remote forests and mountains though was news to me. I was therefore mighty excited when I found out about an abandoned church in a forest a couple of hours drive from Vietnam's capital Hanoi.

This being the monsoon season hough my journey there was not as easy as I had hoped.
